Cranleigh Carnival fun!

As Engagement Officer I am asked to organise stalls at big events. On 25th June The Coalition joined the Cranleigh Lions Carnival and celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Our stall was in the middle part of the stalls adjacent to the Coconut Shy and not too far from the Fudge stall, Gin and Vodka stall and the ice cream van!

In between promoting our services while dressed in a safari hat with a union Jack scarf and my chair adorned with a few jubilee garlands, I tried my hand at vegetable art. I made a person from Carrots, radish, Easy Peeler Oranges, potato, and cocktail sticks. We could also make animals. An adult helped me with a sharp knife! Sadly, my creation didn’t win!

I had several tries at the coconut shy and true to form the best was saved to last and I finally hit a coconut. The kid in me chose the kiddie’s prize of two water pistols!

Other side shows were Splat the Rat, the ever-popular Crockery Smash and Punch & Judy.

There was a colourful parade through the High Street, and various people on stilts. The Acts in the main arena were:

  • Angie Mack Champion Hula Hoop Show
  • Surrey Police Dog Display
  • The Bruce Airhead Experience
  • Martial Arts Display
  • Johnny Slap Show
  • Bloco du Sol
  • Cranleigh Dance Troupe
  • Batala Portsmouth

It was a fun day and although we did not have many enquiries overall, the ones we did have gave people food for thought and somewhere for help to navigate the system journey when they need it!
