1.  Coalition Update

We are recruiting! – We have vacancies for a Tech to Community Connect Area Coordinator, Tech to Community Connect Volunteer Coordinator, Communications Lead and Tech Training Officer.  Click here for more information and details of how to apply.

Co-production opportunity – we need you! – Surrey County Council are currently designing a new way to work closer with care homes to access beds for older residents.  They are also reviewing the list they use of things that the care home must provide (the specification).  The purpose of this work is to make sure that people get the right care, in the right environment when they need it so that they can live a happy and healthy life.

Join us for our second informal discussion on 1st July at 10am, to help to decide what we want the outcomes to be for older people who are in residential care or nursing homes.  We will be looking at parts of the specification and helping to make it better.  You can join by Zoom, phone or SMS text.  Click here to join on 1st July.  Please see the attached document for more details.

2.  Social/Peer support coming up

Friday Virtual Café – Join us on Friday’s at 11.30am for our virtual café.  This is an informal group who chat about everything from what’s on the television to the delivery of wonky beds! Click here to join.

Anyone for tennis? – Woking Lawn Tennis Club have two upcoming taster sessions for wheelchair tennis and autism friendly tennis. Sessions are on the 24th July and are FREE! You can borrow equipment if necessary.

Join our peer support group to help us all get a bit more active! We chat about all things active on Friday at 2pm – one of the subjects for discussion this week is accessible cycling!

3. Young Carers Strategy – Parents and Carers Survey

SCC have launched a survey aimed at young carers and their parents/guardians (Survey closes 1st July).  Children of people who are experiencing mental health conditions often perform caring roles and SCC want to hear their views.  The survey will be used to help design young carers services.

The survey can be found here:

Young Carers strategy: young people and parent survey – Surrey County Council – Citizen Space (surreysays.co.uk)

A key element is looking at the impact of the pandemic, and gaining an insight into the impact of caring on the young carers school life and their health and wellbeing.

4. Adult Social Care Information and Engagement Team briefing – Please document below.

5. Covid Vaccine Passport Scam

We have been made aware of a Covid Vaccine Passport scam email going around that purports to be from the NHS and informs recipients that they can apply for their “Digital Coronavirus Passports”

Clicking on the link within the email, takes you to a convincing but fake NHS website that asks for personal and payment details. (for an admin fee)

The website has since been taken down, but in case similar emails/websites appear can you please circulate the attached alert to your residents, members, groups and mailing lists. And just to reiterate, your vaccination status is obtained FREE through the NHS App, website or by calling the NHS on 119.
