I feel that I would be of value to Surrey Coalition as I can bring both my knowledge and experience of living with mental health as well as going through the whole recovery service and system provided by the NHS.
Over the years I have experienced the pros and cons that come with the treatment provided to people suffering with mental illness in this country, the medications, the variety of therapies, as well as the treatment provided by hospital when someone with mental health is in crisis.
Not only do I bring the knowledge and experience of my own treatment, but others I represent as their advocate, especially in times where they have experienced neglectful treatment by NHS services and staff, including discrimination.
I am also a member of Woking Access Group and Woking Dolphins, and provide advocacy support for others with mental health issues. I will soon be qualified as a Mental Health First Aider. I have also given talks on disability awareness to social work students at Royal Hollway University.
I am fully dedicated to take on board the role of director within Surrey Coalition and put in the time, work and dedication required.
