Surrey Coalition is hiring a Chief Executive

Salary              – £35.000 to £38,000 pa for a 36 hour working week

Due to the forthcoming retirement of our current Chief Executive of 13 years, we are seeking a new person to give strong and inspiring executive leadership to the organisation.

The Organisation:

Surrey Coalition of Disabled People is a small user led organisation which works to the Social Model of Disability and promotes the rights of disabled people to independent living and equality of opportunity. We do this by being the central point of contact for engagement with disabled people in Surrey, and by involving them in the design and delivery of strategies and services which impact on their lives.

The role:

Reporting to the Management Board of disabled people, this role involves giving executive leadership, networking to promote the organisation and managing a small team to involve and support our disabled members and to deliver the objectives of the organisation and the requirements of a number of grants and contracts. As the Chief Executive, you will work with the Board to ensure good governance, financial management and to ensure the sustainability of the organisation.

To achieve this you will work in partnership with colleagues from across the public, voluntary, community and faith sectors

The person:

The successful applicant will have proven senior management and operational experience, an understanding of the barriers which disabled people face in their everyday lives, and  a belief in the importance of involvement in ensuring that the social model of disability underpins delivery of all public and other services.

You will be an effective communicator and natural networker, and have strong influencing skills, particularly when working with the leaders of public sector services across the county.
