Alex visits the Trussell Trust’s food bank in Farnham

In May 2024, Alex visited the Trussell Trust’s food bank in Farnham. Alex works on the Access to Food scheme, and visiting places which provide different types of food support in Surrey to better understand food insecurity and its links to disability.

Farnham Foodbank operates out of The Vineyard Centre on Fridays and Bethel Baptist Church on Wednesdays. Last year, they helped 2787 people, with 24,433 kilograms of donated food.

As well as food parcels, Farnham food bank offers:

  • Fruit and veg boxes (up to a maximum of 2 boxes per month). The boxes are supplied by an external organisation and its contents can’t be altered.
  • 5 week ‘Eat Well, Spend Less’ free cookery course.
  • 12 free weekly sessions with a Community Coach to help individuals achieve their goals.
  • Frontline offers free debt, benefit and money advice. They run a drop-in session at Farnham Foodbank between 10am-12pm on Wednesdays at Bethel Baptist Church, Rushden Way, Farnham GU9 0QQ and on Fridays between 10am-12pm at the Vineyard Centre, Church House, Union Road, Farnham GU9 7PT.
