Huge congratulations to Coalition member Ted who achieved the milestone of 100 volunteering sessions at parkrun! Ted started volunteering with parkrun in April 2022 and in the last two and a half years has become a key member of the Reigate parkrun and junior parkrun event teams. All the more impressively, Ted braved Storm Darragh on both Saturday and Sunday for volunteer no.’s 99 and 100, he wore 6 layers to keep warm! Ted has carried out 8 different volunteer roles; Marshalling 77 times, Barcode Scanning and Funnel Managing 9 times each, Timekeeping 3 times and Tailwalking twice. He has also helped set up and close down the event as well as processing results. Well done Ted and a huge thank you from the parkrun community – these events can’t happen without the amazing volunteers!
Ted was encouraged to volunteer at parkrun by his daughter, who is a keen runner, and said he might as well volunteer while he was cheering her on! He also found out more about parkrun during one of the Get More Active chats in the Friday café. Parkrun is a community event where you can run, walk, push, use your powerchair and volunteer and there are many events all over Surrey.
