We are participating in the UK’s one and only disability sports triathlon – The Superhero Tri. The event takes place this summer, August 12th at Dorney Lake, Windsor. It is a day full of fun, excitement, and team spirit!
We are attending as relay teams, which will consist of Coalition staff and members, and we are looking for willing participants to join! Our teams will also be working together to fundraise for The Coalition.
You can also get involved by coming along to cheer our teams on and encourage them around the course or using your artistic skills to help design and make superhero costumes in our virtual Craft Club.
The relay is split into three sections: swim, bike, run/push. The key concept behind the Superhero Tri event is – inclusivity and creativity. Superhero Tri says: “If you want flippers or floats in the water or need to use your powerchair, we make it possible. In fact, as far as we’re concerned anything goes!”.
We are very excited to be planning for the day and leading up to the event will require preparing teams and training. The training session will be tailored for different abilities and Katy, our Physical Activity Navigator, will be helping to guide and mentor each participant through the months leading up to the event. We are also planning on having a stall at the event, with Coalition members and volunteers cheering the teams on! Refreshment will be provided by The Coalition for the day.
On the 17th March at 10.30am – 12.30pm we will be holding our first hybrid Superhero Tri planning meeting at our Astolat office in Guildford and on Zoom, for members and Coalition staff. It will be a chance for members to find out a bit more information about the day and if they’re interested in participating and to also discuss fundraising opportunities.
