Improving the accessibility in our Surrey countryside

Over the past few months Coalition members and staff have been busy working with the team at Surrey Hills National Landscape on reviewing the accessibility of our Surrey Countryside. We have been revisiting sites to see the changes made from our feedback last year and visiting new sites to recommend accessibility improvements.

At the end of March, we went back to visit Newlands Corner and it was great to see and experience the improvements made from our feedback. Coalition member Anna was particularly happy with the new addition of the benches! (Picture to the right is of Anna at Newlands Corner)

We also had a trip to Farnham Heath, exploring the beautiful woodland and heathland, providing feedback on how to improve the sites accessibility. The team had a great morning at the heathland and even managed to spot a rare bird! We then finished the trip with tea, coffee and cake at the Rural Life Living Museum café. Lastly, in May we visited Thursley National Nature Reserve, full of beautiful trees, heathland and wildlife.

It has been fantastic to see the accessibility improvements made to our Surrey countryside and enabling more people to experience our beautiful countryside surroundings. We look forward to seeing further results from our recent recommendations and will keep you updated.
