Joe from Treloar’s school and college has been working within the Communications Team at the Coalition on an internship. Joe tells us about his internship experience and his time at the Coalition.
What work have you been doing on your internship with The Coalition?
At the Coalition, I have been assisting with their social media posts, such as scheduling various posts on Buffer, which distributes posts on most social media platforms. I have also been posting for their Tech Angels and even created a logo.
Have you had a favourite task that you’ve worked on during your internship?
My favourite task was making a video for Surry Coalition’s volunteers, featuring catchy music and a big thank-you message, with fireworks going off at the end of the video.
What new skills have you learnt from your internship?
I have learned how to schedule social media posts more efficiently using Buffer and have also learned how to edit posts using Canva.
What are your goals or plans for after the internship?
After completing the internship, my focus will shift towards creating social media content centred around my gaming experiences and virtual adventures. Primarily, I aspire to delve into music production, aiming to inspire individuals with disabilities to pursue their passion for music-making. Given that music production primarily relies on computer technology, it offers a compatible avenue for individuals to express themselves creatively using various tech tools.
I’m excited to announce the upcoming release of a song; you can discover my work under the name ‘ruexonn’ on Spotify and other major streaming platforms. Please visit the following link for the song: https://open.spotify.com/track/4LI0rP31US1cKNEEpMvjsP?si=75xqsY-DROKDei7bfiOt8A
How could we involve young people more in the work that we do?
To involve more young people in their work, The Coalition can implement several strategies and initiatives aimed at engaging this demographic, such as pizza evenings and informal meetings in person or virtually.
