Jean Parker – Volunteer Coordinator for the Tech to Community Connect project

Hello, I’m Jean Parker, and I’ve recently joined Surrey Coalition as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Tech to Community Connect project.

I will be working with Volunteer Tech Angels across Surrey, but particularly in Guildford, Waverley and North West Surrey. If that’s you, I’m looking forward to meeting you soon! As someone who has a hearing loss, I have experienced isolation and loneliness when it comes to communication, both in person and online. This lived experience has led to a passion for using technology to reduce digital exclusion.

When not working, I can be found spending time with my young family, or out in the garden attempting to grow fruit, veg and flowers, when the slugs are not decimating them! In my few spare moments I can be found reading a book or fitting in some exercise – I love to run in the beautiful Surrey countryside, or play netball.
