Tech to Community Connect

UPDATE: Due to a high interest in those positions and many requests we have decided to extend the deadline till 14th August, with interviews being held on 19th August.

Two new roles on our Tech to Community Connect project

  • Surrey Downs Tech to Community Connect Area Coordinator
  • Surrey Downs Tech to Community Connect Volunteer Coordinator

About the Roles

This is an exciting new opportunity to help tackle loneliness in Surrey Downs.  This innovative pilot project will provide people experiencing loneliness and digital exclusion with simple technology and the support and training to use it to meet with others virtually in a range of interest and activity groups.

We have 6 months of funding for this new pilot project in Surrey Downs, which means the successful applicants will need to deliver clear and positive outcomes at pace, with the intention of securing funding to make the service on-going and to continuously improve the model according to the needs of Surrey Downs residents as we recover from the covid-19 pandemic.  Both roles are offered on the basis of a 6-month fixed term contract and both roles are part time and homebased with travel across the Surrey Downs area.

Surrey Downs Area Coordinator

We are recruiting an Area Coordinator to oversee and drive the project in Surrey Downs, taking responsibility for all referrals into and through the project, promoting the project externally to residents and partner organisations and managing the stock of equipment and resources.  You will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and lead a team of volunteer ‘tech angels’ who will be crucial in helping our residents to get connected.  You will coordinate and host a range of virtual interest groups and encourage project participants to consider taking on a role in facilitating these.

Volunteer Coordinator

We are recruiting for a Volunteer Coordinator who will lead on the recruitment, selection, training and on-going support and coordination of a team of volunteer Tech Angels.  You will work closely with the Area Coordinator to understand the demand for volunteers and to make sure that this is met with appropriately trained and supported volunteers.  You will develop a volunteer facilitator role and other volunteer roles to enable participants in the project to get involved in volunteering themselves if they would like to.

See job description and person specification below for more details about the two available roles.

The successful applicants will be DBS checked to an Enhanced level.

About Us

This is a collaborative project for Surrey Downs Integrated Care System (ICP), led by Surrey Coalition of Disabled People and Action for Carers Surrey and involving partners across the system.   The Area Coordinator will be employed and line managed by Surrey Coalition of Disabled People.
