Enhancing wellbeing with our Get Together Activities

Since the start of 2025 we have been running our new Wellbeing Get Together Activities, generously funded by The National Lottery. This initiative aims to enhance the lives of Disabled people, people with long-term health conditions and people with mental ill-health by promoting physical and social activities.

So far this year we have been to YMCA Sports and Community Centre in Redhill for a multi-sports session, had a tour of the Watts Gallery, joined the Inclusive Dolphins swim session at Surrey Sports Park, been sailing at Papercourt Sailing Club for their Sailability session and most recently had a tour of Hampton Court Palace!

The Wellbeing Get together Activities have been great fun and are a brilliant opportunity to meet new people or try a new activity. Our members have shared with us how they’ve found the wellbeing get together activities:

“I don’t usually choose to go somewhere new as you never know what to expect or what obstacles you might face – literally as a wheelchair user! It can make you anxious about unfamiliar places but I knew that friendly faces were going to be there so it makes it easier to go knowing that you will have support and seeing people you know.”

“Would recommend it to anyone to give it a try. Sometimes need to put yourself out of your comfort zone.”

“I very much enjoyed the event. It was good to meet up with Coalition members and staff and to try different sports. We all had a chat and a catch up and a hot drink after.”

“Beautiful surroundings, lovely company, really therapeutic being on the water, enjoyed learning something about sailing and had a go with the tiller! When your life becomes a lot narrower due to health difficulties days like this make all the difference!”

“I love being outside, particularly in the sunshine and even more so when on the water! The sailing day was always going to be a winner for me.”

“Felt really relaxed and refreshed and it gave me the energy to move on to do other things that day and weekend.”
