Patrick Laker – Treasurer

My name is Patrick, and I am delighted to be able to contribute to The Coalition in my new position as Treasurer for the charity. I have been working in the charity sector since early 2024 for the Duke of Edinburgh charity and I am very passionate about the industry and contributing in any way I can. My role in Operations allows me to support DofE delivery in the majority of schools in Sutton and Croydon, to deliver the best DofE programmes they can and support thousands of young people in starting their DofE journey every year. The programme helps these young people develop skills they already have, discover new passions and interests, and give back to their community through their volunteering work.

On top of my work in the youth charity sector, I have a keen interest in supporting the disability charity sector. My younger brother has had disabilities from birth and having watched him grow up into the young adult he is today, I’ve seen him navigate the path from school life into working life and the difficulties that come with accessing opportunities in the world. Having seen the barriers he has experienced it has made me want to support a charity working so hard to eliminate those barriers. The work The Coalition is doing is fantastic and I cannot wait to contribute to that.

I've not been out for ages; it was really lovely to get out.
