Surrey 5k Coalition Team Blog

On Sunday 22nd March, on a cold and misty morning, six Coalition team members were up bright and early to make their way to Woking Leisure Centre, the start of the Surrey 5k race. Transportation and Blue badge parking had been booked and pre-arranged beforehand with military precision to make things as easy as possible. By 9am we had collected our running numbers, gobbled down a banana or two and taken a team photo.

At 9.30am, a loud klaxon signalled the start of the race, and we excitedly made our way along the queue of people past the start line; Russell running along being guided by Rachel, and Megan, Nikki, Brian and Oasis closely following behind. By this time, the sun had come out, and it was the most perfect day to be taking part

The atmosphere was truly amazing; lots of supporters cheering and offering words of encouragement, and even a big brass band to keep our spirits lifted. We all felt like a million dollars when we finally made it through the finish line, and our top supporter Steve was there waiting to congratulate us.

A massive thank you to everyone who took part and to those that sponsored us. We would love reach our target of £500, so if anyone would like to help us get there, our JustGiving page is still open at Team fundraising for The Coalition is fundraising for The Coalition

We had such a good experience this year, that we are already planning to enter the 5k again next year. If you would like to register your interest in running, walking or wheeling the 5k on Sunday 21st March 2027, please email rachel.roberts@surreycoalition.org.uk
