If you go down in the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise! Yasmin, Nikki, one of our members, Suzan, and Sam from the Surrey Hills were filming a podcast about the importance of the countryside being accessible to all.
We were at Devil’s punchbowl in Hindhead, a beautiful site that treats all of its visitors to the most amazing view. The site is also steeped in history too.. Legend has it that the devil spent his time tormenting the god Thor by pelting him with enormous handfuls of earth, leaving the great bowl that visitors can see today.
We worked with Surrey Hills and our lovely Coalition members to review the access at Devil’s Punchbowl last year. As a result of the work we did together, Devil’s Punchbowl is now much more accessible for all. There’s an accessible automatic door to the cafe and to the toilets, a smoother footpath and accessible benches for people that want to wheel up for a cuppa and a natter!
The podcast won’t hit your podcast streaming platform of choice until the spring next year….so watch this space. In the meantime, here’s a few photos so you can see what we got up to!
